The most special thing about the village is that Khonoma has banned hunting and logging in their forests.

The 90s saw the devastating deforestation which led the elders to take some decision and the decision was to ban all logging activities in forests, with that complete ban of hunting came too. Which was done by Khonoma Nature Conservation and Tragopan Sanctuary in 1998.
