A string of concerning delivery accidents has recently shaken India, raising serious concerns about consumer safety and product integrity. These disturbing incidents have sparked debate on the effectiveness of quality control procedures in a variety of sectors, including e-commerce and food production.

It all started with the startling finding of a human finger in a Yummo ice cream box. The incident shocked and horrified the consumer community and the investigation into the matter is still going on. The public’s trust in product safety standards was further damaged when a dead centipede was discovered in an Amul ice cream tub. A dead frog was found in a chips packet

An unexpected discovery of a dead frog inside a wafer packet has alarmed the people of Jamnagar, Gujarat’s Pushkardham Society. After buying the packet, Pushkardham Society resident Jasmin Patel experienced an unsettling revelation.

Despite not detecting anything strange, Patel had eaten half of the wafers the night before. The horrifying revelation wasn’t discovered until Patel’s niece opened the packet early the following morning. Patel was horrified to see the dead frog inside and reported the instance right away to the food branch of the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation.

Speaking about the incident, Patel said that her four-year-old niece purchased the packet on Tuesday night from a local store. She ate several wafers from the packet with her nine-month-old niece. She said,

My niece threw the packet away… I did not believe her when she told me. But I too was shocked to see the dead frog. When the distributor and customer care service of Balaji Wafers did not give a satisfactory reply, I informed the food safety officer in the morning.

What do food safety officials have to say about the incident?

Soon, representatives from the Food Branch went to Patel’s residence to examine the package. They removed samples of the contaminated wafers and other wafers from the same batch for testing after establishing the existence of the dead frog. The officials’ goals are to ascertain how the contamination happened and guarantee the quality and safety of food items that are sold to customers. Speaking about the complaint, food safety officer D.B. Parmar said,

One Jasmin Patel informed us that a dead frog was found in a packet of Crunchex, manufactured by Balaji Wafers. We visited the shop where it had been purchased last night. The preliminary probe suggested it was indeed a frog in a decomposed state.

He added,

As directed by the municipal commissioner, we will collect samples of this batch of wafer packets to conduct an inquiry.
