Panchayat Actor Faisal Malik Shares How He Lost His Job After Being Honest With Amitabh Bachchan

Faisal Malik, famed for his role as Prahlad Pandey in the popular series Panchayat, is known for his frank and forthright personality both on and off-screen. Born in a middle-class family of Prayagraj, UP, he never nurtured fantasies of becoming an actor nor showed much interest in academics. Despite this, he completed his B.Com and traveled to Mumbai to pursue an MBA. However, in his own words, he “ate away” the money intended for his studies.

Actor Faisal Malik was recently invited by The Lallantop to share a few humorous anecdotes from his personal as well as professional life. However, it was his first encounter with Amitabh Bachchan that went viral on social media.

It all happened when filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and actor Faisal Malik visited Big B’s home in preparation for a forthcoming movie. The actor recalled the meeting and stated,

“I was excited because I was going to meet [Amitabh] Bachchan sahab. As soon as I saw him, I forgot the purpose of our visit and asked for his autograph.” Faisal also spoke about Big B’s heartwarming gesture. The actor said, “When I told Amitabh Bachchan that I am from Allahabad he asked if I would like to have til laddoos [sesame laddoos].”

Faisal Malik acknowledged that he was giddy with anticipation over the laddoos. He also assumed Amitabh Bachchan wouldn’t eat due to the crunchy texture of the dish. Speaking about this, Faisal Malik said,

“I thought he wouldn’t be able to eat it because of his age. Sorry, I shouldn’t say this. But when the laddoos arrived, he finished two before me. At that moment, I thought Amitabh Bachchan was lying about his age.”

In addition, Faisal Malik told a story about the script reading at Big B’s place. He claimed that the BigB had an eye for detail. The actor said,

“He remembered all 120 pages of the script. He didn’t even have to look at the script to point out the mistake. He asked me, ‘When do you think we should shoot this?’ I honestly responded, ‘Sir, we shouldn’t shoot this now. We should shoot this after six months.’ After we finished the meeting and stepped downstairs, I was told, ‘You don’t work on this project. You leave it,’ because I spoke the truth.”

Recently, Faisal Malik has been getting a lot of praise lately for his performance in the May 28 debut of “Panchayat” Season 3.
