A 60-year-old man from Kerala tragically lost his life due to an accident involving an upper berth seat on a train journey. Ali Khan CK was traveling with a friend on the Ernakulam-Hazrat Nizamuddin Millennium Superfast Express when the incident occurred. As the train passed through Warangal district in Telangana on June 16, the improperly secured upper berth seat fell, causing severe neck injuries to Mr. Khan.

Immediately after the accident, he was rushed to a hospital in Ramagundam and later transferred to Hyderabad for further treatment. Despite efforts to save him, Ali Khan CK succumbed to his injuries on June 24. The Government Railway Police (GRP) has registered a case in response to this tragic incident, highlighting concerns over safety measures and protocols within the Indian Railways.

Railways Ministry clarifies the details of the tragic berth incident

The Ministry of Railways has issued a clarification regarding the unfortunate incident involving the death of a passenger due to an upper berth seat falling in a train coach. According to the official spokesperson, the incident occurred on the S6 coach of the Ernakulam-Hazrat Nizamuddin Millennium Superfast Express. The passenger, Ali Khan CK, was occupying seat number 57, which was a lower berth.

The spokesperson explained that the upper berth seat fell due to improper chaining by another passenger. This led to severe neck injuries for Mr. Khan, who was initially treated at a hospital in Ramagundam and later transferred to Hyderabad, where he sadly passed away on June 24.

In response to speculation about the condition of the berth seat, the Railways Ministry clarified that the seat itself was not damaged or faulty. It was inspected and found to be in satisfactory condition during a check conducted at Nizamuddin station.
